Ouch
I’m home and comfortable in company (Thanks Mom and Dad!) but not completely. I brought a friend home with me that I’ve been trying to keep under wraps: Pain.
As most of my posts will be on this blog, I’m comparing something I’m experiencing now to something I’ve thought I’ve alreadh been through. I don’t remember it hurting this much.
In all my head hurts so much It affects just about everything I should enjoy about living at home and not worrying about my job:
- Talking with people
- Eating
- Being able to use to the restroom (we’ll talk about that later)
- Sitting around without a care in the world (not so sure yet)
What I’ve resolved to do about this has come from some encouragement from my parents who are worried about me. What I’m worried about is becoming addicted to pain meds. I’ve been on percocet before as of the last surgery and it doesn’t mess with my head that much in terms of the weird side-effects. It does take away some of the pain but not all of it. What it has been doing is making sure my digestive system isn’t 100%. So after a few prunes and some laxatives I’m sure that will be put to rest soon. I’ll be sure NOT to let everyone know how that all comes out.
In the meantime, we’ve gone back to the neurosurgeon’s office for recommendations. They think that because this tumor was more aggressive than the last one that brain swelling is more a factor. So I’ve got one more prescription for something to take care of that. I’ll let everyone know how that’s going soon.

Hi Jeffrey,
Glad that you are home and your wonderful parents are taking good care of you. So sorry to hear about the pain in your head. Sure hope you and your dr. can work out something that takes care of the pain without making you crazy. Think of you often and pray for fantastic results very quickly. Take care.

Jeff,
Your positive outlook on life is really being put to the test these days it seems. On the up side, you’ve come through the surgery and your team of doctors sounds like they are making use of all the tools at their disposal to lick this thing once and for all.
But it sure sounds like a struggle. I know you are taking it one day at a time. You’ve always had so much patience working with faculty. Now you’ll have to use that patience working with yourself.
You continue to be in my prayers.

At first I thought you were going to say that you brought a friend home… A Dog!!!
Maybe you should look into getting one and naming it Pain

A lot of people are on your side, asking about you, thinking about you, and praying for you. Keep resting and taking your meds. We all hope this will pass quickly for you. Soon enough you’ll be cracking lame ‘brain’ jokes just like old times (pun intended). Look forward to seeing you back on your feet soon and home spraying your own weeds…

@Dal – hey thanks cousin for the support. Yeah that didn’t come out right in the post: being able to go to the bathroom is a necessity not a joy-ride. When you are in pain it’s actually not that much fun at all. It’s all good now, but just wanted to address your comment. Take care and say hi to the fam for me.
